NEW YORK--When the Broadway production of WEST SIDE STORY originated in 1957, this momentous play would eventually become in 1961 one of the greatest motion pictures of all time. Fifty years later the Lower East Side of Manhattan still has the remnants of old tenements prominently featured in this epic masterpiece, but now musical director/writer, Luis Caballero brings another extraordinarily impressive story to the stage: a mythical figure who not only excelled on a baseball field, but championed the causes of those who needed a voice. Roberto Clemente Walker, a black Puerto Rican baseball player who tragically died in 1972 while en route delivering relief supplies to earthquake-torn Nicaragua is that voice in DC 7, The Roberto Clemente Story.
