Australian Casey Stoner Continues to Dominate the 2011 Motorcycle Grand Prix

First Place Finish is Stoner’s 7th out of 12 races in 2011

Indianapolis, IN. August 28 – Australian Casey Stoner today won the Red Bull Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix race continuing his domination of the sport in 2011. The first place finish-his seventh victory out of 12 races run so far in 2011 puts him 44 points ahead of defending champion Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo in the overall standings. Riding for Repsol Honda, Stoner took the lead in the 6th lap and never relinquished it, finishing nearly 5 seconds ahead of teammate Dani Pedrosa who finished second. Stoner set a new lap record at the Brickyard with a time of 1 minute, 39.807 seconds.

This win marks his third consecutive victory after Laguna Seca and Brno. American Ben Spies, riding for Yamaha, finished in third. More than 130,000 spectators watched the race which Stoner completed in a time of 46 minutes, 52.786 seconds averaging 93.88 miles per hour. The next stop on the 18 race tour lands in Italy at San Marino on September 4th.
