This is 2012 and we still have individuals who just don't get it. Racial comments against people of color, or against any race is not acceptable especially in sports where fans just want to escape from life's reality and be entertained. Several hours after the NY Knicks ended their Lindriven win streaks at 2:30 am ET ESPN ran an on line story with the title: "Chink in The Armor." The story was immediately referenced in a number of other social media platforms that expressed outrage and was removed at 3:05 am ET.

El Bronx, NY - The most popular sports in the country, football might not be the same in the near future. The NFL might not be able to continue to ignore the pressing problem of head injuries due to the hard hits players receive to the head. Several players have taken the NFL head on in several court suits alleging that the NFL and some manufacturers of football helmets could have done more to protect players. If the NFL is dragged into a lenthy court battle they might be forced to deal with this ongoing problem in a way that might change the game. For now lets just stay informed on this issue. http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/12/26/ex-players-sue-over-concussions-current-players-hide-them/?scp=3&sq=NFL%20Head%20Injuries&st=cse

El Bronx, NY - The Holiday season is all about giving, but several major league teams are very interested in getting especially if it's a possible five tool player. Many of you probably never heard of Yoennis Cespedes a solidly build center fielder who was a star of the Cuban National team. The following article from the NY Times will give you a good understanding of who this young man is as he might be coming to a team near you. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/28/sports/baseball/the-cuban-yoenis-cespedes-could-be-baseballs-hottest-free-agent.html?scp=1&sq=Cespedes%20&st=cse

A.J. Burnett pitched the Yankee's back to the Bronx. It was a toss up and A.J. won. (Photo Bill Menzel) Bronx, NY - It was like a crapshoot. You roll the dices and you don't know what you will get. Lucky seven and you win; snake eye's eleven and you lose it all. That is how many Yankee fans and perhaps some of the Yankee players themselves felt when they sent up A.J. Burnett yesterday against a hungry Tiger team. Burnett surprised everyone, but it was the incredible defensive plays of Curtis Granderson that helped keep the Tigers at bay with a 10-1 Yankee victory. read more at: http://proxy.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=311004106

South Bronx, NY - As I walked through downtown New York earlier today and now in the streets of my hood in the South Bronx, I can't help to feel a little for my friends in Boston. I mean the playoff feeling is here. I saw a few tourists wearing DETROIT jerseys in Manhattan and here in the South Bronx you feel the heavier police presence and a helicopter flying around signaling a large crowd expected in the stadium. That is Post Season and for many years I remember Boston also being in it and also being part of the Boogiedown Bronx.

September 30, 1972 was a day that made many fans, especially boricuas proud. (photo file) El Bronx, NY - It was a day like today back in 1972 that an event occurred that made every Boricua so proud. It was an event that gave many of our parents one moment of cultural pride and allowed them to forget the many problems of day to day survival in the cement jungle known as New York City. Roberto Clemente got his 3000th hit. Thank you David Gonzalez for not allowing us to forget. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/12/sports/baseball/clementes-3000th-hit-helmet-raised-to-a-sparse-crowd.html?_r=1

Pedro was an act no matter what uniform he wore. (Photo Bill Menzel/LSV) Bronx, NY - Yesterday we held our last LatinoMVP awards luncheon for the 2010 season. The honorees were John Sterling, NY Yankees radio personality and the closer of all the closer's: Mariano Rivera (we have articles on that event on this site). We always have the last two events in the month of September to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. With this in mind I wanted to share the following article written by one of our contributors, Danny Torres who wrote the following article for MLB.com on Pedro Martinez. Enjoy...http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110919&content_id=24915220&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

The Boycott is still on, but how effective will it be? I must share this article that appeared in the NY Times on the issue of the upcoming Baseball All-Star Game. People have been asking what is happening with the Boycott that we and countless others were promoting? Unfortunately, the corporate media has not covered enough on this issue and Major League Baseball philosophy is to keep quiet on the issue and it will go away. Therefore when something is written on this issue we like to share it with our loyal readers. Read and pass on. What do you think? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/18/sports/baseball/from-jackie-robinson-to-dead-silence-jonathan-mahler.html?pagewanted=1&_r=3
