Bulls Finish NBA Preseason Undefeated

on

Chicago, IL – The Chicago Bulls closed out the preseason on a positive note, defeating the visiting Denver Nuggets Friday night, 94-89. The Bulls went undefeated in the preseason for the 4th time in franchise history.

The Bulls were led by Luol Deng who finished the game with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Carlos Boozer also had significant contributions with 24 points to go with 12 boards.

The Nuggets came out of the gates on fire, led by Ty Lawson, who looked like he was on the playground in the first quarter. Lawson scored all 11 of his points in the first quarter, and did not play in the second half due to a groin injury. The Nuggets led by as many 17 points in the first half and led, 48-36, at halftime

Coach Thibodeau must have had a very stern message for his team at halftime, because they came out in the second half possessed. They were trapping in the back court and overplaying entry passes and ended up scoring 36 points in the third quarter, or, as many as the had in the first half.

The Bulls took the lead all the way into the 4th quarter where they were able to withstand a tie with 2 minutes to go in the game, and hold on for the victory.

Derrick Rose continues to look strong, as he has all preseason, finishing with 15 points and eight assists. D Rose struggled with his shot but seemed to show another level of his development with some of the passes he made in a tight game. He showed very good court awareness and displayed two beautiful no-look passes down the stretch to help seal the deal.

Chicago is hoping the can continue their hot streak as the travel to Miami to commence the regular season Tuesday night against the defending champs, the Miami Heat.

Kirk Hinrich (shoulder/concussion) and Joakim Noah (groin) continue to be held out of games for precautionary reasons and it appears that Noah’s groin injury may cause him to miss the beginning of the regular season.
