Caribbean Series: All Eyes On Cuba For First Game Tonight


Cuba’s team playing in this year’s Caribbean Series, Pinar del Río, practiced yesterday morning behind closed doors at the Roberto Clemente Walker stadium in the town of Carolina.

Pinar, the champion of the Cuban National Baseball Series trained in the morning on the artificial turf of Carolina stadium. They did not allow the public or the local press to view, or cover their practice. They are preparing for their first game tonight against Mexico.

After 53 years of absence in this tournament, Cuba returned to the Caribbean Series last year, and was represented by the champs that year, Villa Clara, Cuba. Last year’s tournament took place in Margarita Island, Venezuela. The team did not fare well on the tournament, with a 1-3 mark.
