The Central American and Caribbean Games 2014


Every four years one of the biggest sporting events takes places in the region of Central America and the Caribbean: The Central American and Caribbean Games 2014. The games are taking place between November 14-30, 2014.

These games are like a regional version of the Olympics, where there will be competition in 36 sporting events including 12 disciplines that will serve as qualifying for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

The Games were created in 1924 through the initiative of the Olympic Sociedad Mexicana in order to increase the competitive level of athletes in the region. Mexico has hosted the Olympics on 3 occasions; 1926 (the first Central American Games in history), 1954 and 1990 .

Veracruz obtained the rights to host these games in 2009. It will be the first to be held outside the capital. The games will count with the participation of 31 participating countries in the region with about 5700 athletes in 46 sports disciplines. will provide periodic updates on the games.
