More Than 90,000 Fans to Compose Largest Crowd Ever to Witness Live Basketball Game NBA All-Star 2010 will bring together some of the most talented and passionate players in the league’s history for a global celebration of the game in Dallas, Texas, for the second time (All-Star first visited Dallas in 1986 at Reunion Arena). Three days of live game action will culminate with the 59th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 14 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, before an expected crowd of more than 90,000 – the largest group ever to witness a live basketball game. TNT will televise the All-Star Game for an eighth consecutive year, marking Turner Sports' 25th season of All-Star coverage. Fans in 215 countries and territories and 41 languages will experience a the weeklong celebration of the game through an array of TV, Internet, film and digital technologies offered by NBA Digital, TNT and ESPN. The following is a look at NBA All-Star 2010 by the numbers: Everything’s Bigger in Texas - More than 90,000 fans will attend the All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
- Cowboys Stadium is home to the world’s largest high-definition video board, which utilizes 300 million light bulbs, weighs 600 tons, and measures 160 feet wide by 72 feet high.
- HP printed 53,000 square feet of All-Star-themed signage to wrap the Bank of America Plaza, the largest building wrap ever created according to Guinness World Records.
- A combined 26 American and Latin Grammy Awards between NBA All-Star Game performers Alicia Keys, Usher and Shakira.
Global Reach All-Star events will be broadcast in 215 countries and territories and in 41 languages. More than 1,800 media will cover events, including more than 309 international reporters from 36 countries and territories. A total of 79 international television stations, radio stations, and Web sites will be onsite. Thirty-seven (37) television partners will broadcast All-Star for the first time. NBA Digital - Approx. 515 million videos on NBA.com have been viewed by fans this season.
- 12 hours of live streaming coverage on NBA.com, offering fans behind-the-scenes content from NBA All-Star on Friday, February 12.
- 20 hours of original content on NBA TV, including behind-the-scenes looks at All-Star Media Day and All-Star East and West Practices.
Social Media Highlights - More than 1.8 million fans on the league’s Facebook page will have access to exclusive content.
- More than 150 Tweets will be sent from behind the scenes at All-Star to more than 1.7 million followers on the NBA Twitter page.
NBA Cares - More than 1,500 NBA family members, including current and former players, partners and volunteers to participate in five days of NBA Cares All-Star Community Caravan events.
- More than 1,000 local boys and girls to take part in nine simultaneous NBA FIT clinics throughout North Texas during the first-ever NBA FIT All-Star Youth Celebration.
- More than 25 NBA Cares hands-on service events and activities will take place throughout North Texas.
- 41 computers and nine printers to be donated by HP to two brand new Reading & Learning Centers in North Texas schools.
- 92 buses will take nearly 4,000 students from 40 local schools to American Airlines Center on Friday for the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam.
NBA on TNT - TNT will utilize two laser beam HD video transmission links and more than 350 large-screen LCD HDTV in arena monitors.
- This is the eighth consecutive year that the All-Star Game will be shown in prime time on TNT, and Turner’s 25th season of providing NBA All-Star coverage.
- 80 HD TV cameras, five jib cameras, two flying cable cameras and one airplane camera will be utilized to bring the action to viewers.
NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas · Up to 90,000 fans are expected to come through the doors at the Dallas Convention Center. · More than 11 acres of interactive basketball activities and games will be featured including more than 40 basketball courts and attractions. · The NBA Store at NBA All-Star Jam Session will cover 10,000 square-feet of retail space and provide more than 2,000 NBA-branded products. · More than 1,500 Dallas residents will provide more than 10,000 volunteer hours during Jam Session. Marketing Partners - Thirty (30) marketing and promotional partners will be conducting activities at NBA All-Star 2010.
- 3,000 screens throughout Cowboys Stadium will bring promotions and creative to life for attendees and showcase Cisco's Stadium Vision technology.
- Six NBA All-Star event trophies - T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam MVP Trophy, Haier Shooting Stars Trophy, Taco Bell Skills Challenge Trophy, Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout Trophy, Sprite Slam Dunk Trophy, and the NBA All-Star Game MVP Trophy – will travel over 1,500 miles to NBA All-Star in Dallas via Southwest Airlines’ NBA branded 737 “Slam Dunk One” airplane.
NBA Players and Legends - Cleveland’s LeBron James, this year's leading vote-getter in the NBA All-Star Balloting program presented by T-Mobile with 2,549,693 votes, became the first player in balloting history to draw at least 2.5 million votes on three separate occasions.
- NBA players, legends, and WNBA and NBA D-League players will make more than 500 appearances during NBA All-Star.
