Trophee Des Champions + Two Friendlies! (Image Source: RBNY)

Harrison, NJ – With all the international friendlies and the MLS All Star game occurring throughout the United States, it’s easy to forget or be unaware of the three matches Red Bull Arena will be hosting at Red Bull Arena.

Located in Harrison, N.J., Red Bull Arena is accessible to get to via PATH (just stop at the Harrison Station). I live in Manhattan and I can honestly say that commuting to Red Bull Arena is easier than going to the MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Jets and Giants. Not only is Red Bull Arena accessible, it’s an excellent place to watch a couple of soccer matches.

If you’ve never been to a match, then you’re in for a treat. With three matches taking place at Red Bull Arena this weekend, fans will have the opportunity to watch a couple of international friendlies and an actual championship match. As stated in the Red Bulls Press Release:

On Friday, July 27, USMNT player Michael Bradley’s new club, Italian giants AS Roma will square off against the national team of El Salvador, with kickoff slated for 8:00 PM ET.

The following day on Saturday, July 28, the Arena hosts the 2012 Trophee Des Champions, the annual kickoff of the French season between the past year’s Ligue 1 champions and Coupe de France winners. Montpellier Hérault SC and Olympique Lyonnais will square off in the annual event, which kicks off Saturday at 3:00 PM ET.

On Tuesday, July 31, the New York Red Bulls will host England’s Tottenham Hotspur in the 2012 Barclays New York Cup Powered by Under Armour. The match will kick off at 7:00 PM.

Tickets for any of the matches are available at www.newyorkredbulls.com.

While all three matches are enticing and highly recommended, if there was one match I would pick, it would be the Trophee Des Champions. While majority of friendly matches are meaningless, the contest between Ligue1’s best Montpellier and Coupe de France winners Olympique Lyonnais is legitimately a match where two of the best teams in France are competing for a trophy.

While the other two friendlies are sporting teams we’re familiar with, the Trophee Des Champions will give you the opportunity to catch some two well-known French clubs battle it out here in the United States. If you love the fries and the kissing style, I’m confident that you’ll appreciate French Football. So give it a shot! Tell Joe I sent you!
