Harrison, NJ - After last week's 4-0 shell-shocking losses to the LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes, both New York and Seattle were in desperation of win. Coming off the bench, Seattle's Fredy Montero scored the game winning goal in the 85th minute to give the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls.

Playing in a packed and boisterous Red Bull Arena, the Red Bulls six-game home winning streak came to an end. With this loss, the Red Bulls are now one point ahead of the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference. With their second consecutive loss of the season, the Red Bulls have some issues to address.

After allowing 4 goals in his first six games, Bouna Coundoul has allowed 5 goals in the last two games. In both losses, Juan Pablo Angel has not been able to find his scoring touch. Overall, the team has struggled to create opening spaces within the scoring area as they're relying on one too many passes.

The best chance the Red Bulls had of scoring came in the  24th minute when Seattle’s Sanna Nyassi fouled Joel Lindpere on the left of the Sounders FC penalty area. With an opportunity to give the Red Bulls the lead, Juan Pablo Angel’s free kick went just inches over the bar.

In the second half, the Seattle Sounders came out aggressively faster and determined to win than the Red Bulls. Despite their defensive performance, offensively the Red Bulls weren't able to pressure Seattle's goalkeeper, Kasey Keller. After being shutout for the second consecutive week, one has to wonder if the team is going to change their formation.

With the loss, the Red Bulls currently remain on top of the Eastern Conference by a point at 5-3.

Next Thursday, they face the Columbus Crew at Red Bull Arena where the winner of that match will be on top of the Eastern Conference.
