Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for May 12-18. Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for May 12-18. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Soriano led the Majors with seven home runs, 14 RBI, a 1.258 slugging percentage, 16 hits, 10 runs and 39 total bases. The 32-year-old left fielder hit .516 (16-31), including two doubles. On May 13th vs. San Diego, Soriano hit the 45th leadoff home run of his career, which moved him past Brady Anderson for third all-time.
