BY Ismael Nuñez

Cuba wins the 2015 Caribbean World Series! it took 55 years! Of course they had to put up with politics yet that made them more determined to win.

On February 8th, 2015 their opponent for the championship was the defending champs of the 2014 Caribbean World Series Mexico. Cuba struck first.

On the top of the 1st inning Cuba scored their first run and in the 2nd inning they added one more leading 2-0. Mexico rallied in the bottom of the 5th inning and scored their first run with a single.  Cuba added the game winning run on the top of the 8th inning: Second Baseman Yuliesky Gourriel hit a Solo-Home Run to make the score 3-1. In the 8th inning, Mexico’s Right Fielder, Eric Farris added a run for Mexico when he singled to put the score at 3-2.

Relief pitcher for Cuba Hector Mendoza performed to a Mariano Rivera level, getting the last  three outs in the bottom of the 9th inning with a pop fly, a ground out and a strike out. Final score Cuba 3 Mexico 2.

Cuba is 2015 Caribbean World Series Champions! Now with all this talk of having a dialogue, ending the embargo, traveling to Cuba, and all this baseball talent in Cuba let’s see what happens in the MLB?
