Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – The baseball commissioner has been in existence for 102 years, since the judge, Kenesaw Mountain Landis.
Baseball was at its worst, as eight of the White Sox had sold out to punters in the 1919 World Series.
Landis emerged triumphant from his notable calamities, as were the eight other commissioners triumphant in the face of player strikes, business transformations, and bombastic changes in player behavior, including the advent of referees, free agents and player agents.
But on August 14, 2014, team owners made one of the biggest mistakes in Major League history, appointing Commissioner Rob Manfred to replace Bud Selig.
And the most tragic ordeal suffered by baseball began.

El colmo de Manfred es el caso Rosenthal

Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – El comisionado del beisbol existe hace 102 años, desde el juez, Kenesaw Mountain Landis.
El beisbol vivía su peor momento, debido a que ocho de los Medias Blancas se habían vendido a los apostadores en la Serie Mundial de 1919.
Landis salió triunfal de sus notables calamidades, como triunfales resultaron los otros ocho comisionados ante huelgas de peloteros, transformaciones del negocio y cambios rimbombantes en el comportamiento de los peloteros, incluso el advenimiento de arbitrajes, agentes libres y los agentes de jugadores.
Pero el 14 de agosto de 2014, los propietarios de equipos cometieron uno de los más grandes errores en la historia de las Grandes Ligas, nombraron a Rob Manfred, comisionado, para sustituír a Bud Selig.
Y comenzó el más trágico calvario sufrido por el beisbol.
Por ejemplo, de espaldas a todos, permiten que ESPN y FOX manejen las Grandes Ligas. Igual cambian horarios de los juegos, que imponen nueva Reglas. Por ejemplo intentan acortar los juegos y acabar con los extra innings, no para bien del juego y el espectáculo, sino para comodidad en la programación de las televisoras.
Ahora, el escándalo actual, la metida de pata más espectacular de Manfred, ha sido botar al ilustre compañero, Ken Rosenthal, porque hizo público, a través de MLB network, algo que lo molestó.
El columnista de “The Boston Globe”, Dan Shaughnessy, acaba de titular uno de sus trabajos así…: “John Henry is no Rob Manfred, and I apreciate that”.
Califica lo de Rosenthal, como “uno de los hechos más idiotas en la historia de MLB”.
Es que solo publicó su opinión acerca de los atrabiliarios cambios de Regla que han operado y anuncian que van a operar, Manfred, ESPN y FOX.
Henry no es propietario de “The Boston Globe” nada más, sino también de los Medias Rojas y por eso la cita de Shaughnessy. Dice cómo ha censurado a veces al equipo en el diario del mismo dueño, sin calamidad alguna.
Y de Rosenthal opina… “Es un periodista correcto e inteligente, respetado en las Grande Ligas por los fanáticos, los propietarios de equipos, los peloteros, los ejecutivos y los demás reporteros. Es increíble que Manfred haya eliminado a Rosenthal de sus funciones, solamente porque él puede.
“Pero no es posible engañar a los lectores, ellos siempre encuentran la verdad”.
