Amigos For Kids Names Karina Pavone President & Ceo
— Karina Joined Amigos For Kids in January 2020 as Executive Director —
MIAMI, FL — June 16, 2022 — (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) — The Board of Directors of Amigos For Kids is pleased to announce the promotion of Karina Pavone to the position of President & CEO. Pavone has been Amigos’ executive director since January 2020, and has focused on growing and diversifying funding for the organization and on developing a stronger, scalable infrastructure that positions it for future growth, including the expansion of program offerings to strengthen Amigos’ capacity to nimbly respond to changing community needs.
“In her two-plus years leading Amigos For Kids amid a pandemic, Karina has done an exceptional job of deepening our mission, growing our services, and attracting new funding sources,” said Jorge A. Plasencia, co-founder and chairman emeritus, Amigos For Kids. “She is so deserving of this promotion as she has demonstrated staunch commitment to our organization and the children and families we are privileged to serve,” he added.
Pavone joined Amigos For Kids in January 2020, after 25 years of work as a therapist, consultant, and non-profit and higher education administrator. Throughout her career, Karina has held many leadership roles, including 16 years with Miami Dade College. Prior to joining the Amigos For Kids team, she served as associate dean at the School of Continuing Education and Professional Development, where she helped some of the most at-risk students pursue their educational goals and aspirations. She received her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Carlos Albizu University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University.
“It has been a pleasure to watch Karina grow in her role at Amigos For Kids during these past two years. We are fortunate to have had someone with her skills and acumen leading our organization. Her unwavering dedication to our mission in serving children and families is evident in everything she does. On behalf of our Board of Directors, I congratulate Karina on this well-deserved promotion,” added Maggie Fresen-Zulueta, board chair, Amigos For Kids.
“In my early days at Amigos, it became increasingly clear to me that preventing child abuse and neglect required first and foremost that we do more to help families thrive. Despite entering a period of significant challenges with the pandemic, we worked diligently mapping out a set of priorities for the organization that would allow us to expand services for families and amplify our impact. It has been just over two years since we set our strategic priorities in motion, and while we have made significant progress, our work is far from done,” said Karina Pavone, president & CEO of Amigos For Kids. “I am deeply grateful to our staff and to the board of directors of Amigos for placing their trust in me to lead the organization and for supporting the vision. I am truly humbled by this promotion and look forward to continuing to move our mission forward with a renewed sense of purpose and a spirit of service to others,” she added.
