
BRONX, N.Y. (April 7, 2022) — It has been 32 years since Latino Sports founded the mission to uphold the responsibility of recognizing the stellar performances of Latinos across Major League Baseball.
In 1990, the first Latino MVP Award was given to Texas Rangers outfielder and Puerto Rican native Rubén Sierra. Sierra expressed his feelings for the award with immense gratitude, which ultimately fueled our path forward to awarding countless players with the oldest and most prestigious award given to a Latino player. Since its founding, the award has grown from one award to eight Latino MVP Awards and continues to live by its founding mission.
The eight players below mark their names down in Latino Sports history through their unsung dedication and relentless hard work. They will not only be celebrated by us but by Major League Baseball and all those who love the game.
