Hits 36 Home Runs, Four in One Game, a Feat Only 20 Others in MLB Have Achieved
Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – Nick Kurtz, 22, who turned 22 in March, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He bats and throws left-handed and is the Athletics’ first baseman. He was called up to the Majors on April 23.
His career has been as meteoric as it has been extraordinary. He was selected in last year’s draft, receiving a $7 million signing bonus. He was playing for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Wake Forest University.

With less than a season in the minors, he was called up and has just been named the American League Rookie of the Year by Baseball America magazine. He is expected to receive the same honors when the journalists’ awards are announced on Monday, the 10th of this month.
Kurtz, with his ever-present smile that radiates tremendous optimism, has astonished the baseball community with his phenomenal power.
In his incomplete rookie season, he not only hit 36 home runs, but on July 25th in Houston, he connected for four, three of them to the opposite side, to left field. Incidentally, the majority of his 36 (29) were to that area.
He is the first rookie in history to hit four home runs in a single game. And only 21, including him, have accomplished such a feat in the Majors.
“That was crazy,” Nick has said. “Millions of people have known who I am ever since. The truth is, I always dreamed of making it to the Majors, but I never thought I would have this kind of success.”
Those Who Have Hit Four in a Game
After Ed Delahanty became the second to accomplish this feat on July 13, 1896, no one did it again until Lou Gehrig nearly 36 years later, on June 3, 1932.
Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Albert Pujols, and Alex Rodriguez, the first four on the all-time home run list, never hit four in a game.

Nick’s Happy to Be a Professional Baseball Player
Reporters asked Nick how he felt about the high expectations placed upon him.
He responded: “No, I don’t put too much pressure on myself. I knew many people were wondering, ‘How soon will he make it to the majors?’ Well, I was just enjoying myself with my teammates in the minors, both in the Arizona Fall League and before that, in Double-A, in 2024.”
And Billy Owns, the Athletics’ assistant general manager and director of player personnel, said: “Nick has been a revelation. Well, he was always our number one pick when we were preparing for the draft. His hitting had impressed us all.”
In 117 games this year in the majors, he batted .290, drove in 87 runs, and drew 63 walks.
But it will be in 2026 when Nick will train with the big leaguers for the first time, at Hohohkam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona. Last year he trained with the minors.
