Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – Today, like every Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday, is Mail Day. If you write to me, don’t forget to include your full name and the town or city you’re writing from. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

I’ve counted them one by one, and there are 193 heartwarming messages I’ve received for my 97th birthday, which was on Saturday the 10th. Here’s one of them:

Hi Juan:

Wow! I’m listening to La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini, and I realize that he died a few years before you were born. Then I started looking through history and I see that you lived at the same time as many other interesting historical figures like Ruth, Gagarin, Einstein, and so on. I love imagining things like that…

“When you read your columns, it seems like they’re written by someone who knows a lot and is probably in their forties, or at most, their fifties. Few people imagine that the person who wrote that is almost a century old. I love knowing that, because it tells me that you really know how to live, that nothing stops you, and that you keep going as if you were going to live forever. That’s what living is all about.

“Enjoy this day to the fullest and continue to enjoy all the days to come. Don’t stop writing and keep giving yourself the pleasure of it, because we, your readers, will continue to have the pleasure of reading you.

“Happy birthday! Sending you a big hug and extending it to your whole family.

“Your reader friend,

Héctor Marcano, Adelaide, Australia.”

Héctor: You touched me.

Reynaldo Quijada T. from Saint Molest, Kentucky, asks: “How many World Series has each team won?”

Nudista: Enfermo de ropastrofobia… Peter Eldin.

Me encanta imaginar esas cosas…

“Tu lector amigo,

Héctor Marcano, Adelaide, Australia”.

Héctor: me emocionaste.
