You have many merits. Among them, being a native of an area as passionate about soccer as Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire, you are the best of the big leaguers from there, and today, Sunday, you are inducted into the Hall of Fame with 333 votes out of a possible 425. By the way, in a few days, on August 15th, it will be 30 years since you arrived in the Majors.
Personally, I admire you because I know that to field fly balls like you and I do, with your glove at chest level, requires certain skills. There aren’t many of us who have made those plays like that.
I only remember one other player who made outs like that in center field: the Puerto Rican Luis Rodríguez Olmo, one of the 22 who went to Mexico under the management and on the payroll of Jorge Pasquel.
Olmo played with Pastora, from Maracaibo, while he was suspended from the Major Leagues.
I know, because in this world you call the afterlife, everything is known, that you never saw me play. And look, because of that way you made outs, the fans and journalists immediately said that you played like me in the outfield.
I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart, now, exactly 75 years after my Major League debut with the New York Giants. You know, my friend Andruw, when we played at the Polo Grounds in Manhattan.

Tienes muchos méritos. Entre otros, que siendo nativo de un área tan amante del fútbol soccer, como Curazao, Aruba y Bonaire, eres el mejor de los bigleaguers de allá, y hoy domingo eres elevado al Hall de Fama, con 333 votos de 425 posibles. Por cierto, dentro de unos días, el 15 de agosto, hará 30 años de tu llegada a las Mayores.
En lo particular te admiro, porque sé, que para recibir los flies como tú y como yo, con el guante a la altura del pecho, se necesitan ciertas facultades. No hemos sido muchos lo que hemos hecho así esas jugadas.
Recuerdo solo otro que en el centerfield, hiciera así los outs, el puertorriqueño Luis Rodríguez Olmo, uno de los 22 que se fue a México bajo las órdenes y los honorarios de Jorge Pasquel.
Olmo jugó con el Pastora, de Maracaibo, mientras estaba suspendido en Grandes Ligas.
Ya sé, porque en este Más Acá que ustedes llaman Más Allá, se sabe todo, que nunca me viste jugar. Y fíjate tú, que por esa manera de hacer los outs, los fanáticos y los periodistas hablaron en seguida de que jugabas como yo en el outfield.
Eso te lo agradezco de corazón, ahora, cuando ya hace, exactamente 75 años de mi debut en Grandes Ligas, con los Gigantes de Nueva York. Tú sabes, amigo Andruw, cuando jugábamos en el Polo Grounds de Manhattan.
