MILWAUKEE, WI — As the Brewers won Game 2 of the National League Championship Series 7-4 on Monday to take a commanding 2-0 lead over Los Angeles, Milwaukee’s All-Star catcher William Contreras recorded as many hits (3) as the Dodgers did as a team (3).
“I’m going to keep on doing my job offensively and defensively, I’m always going to go out there and try to be the best version of myself,” the three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger said after his 3-4 performance with a home run, three RBI, one run scored and a walk.
“Like I always say, baseball is a game of highs and lows and it’s going to bring more lows than it brings highs. I think a lot of people don’t understand that. I’m just happy we were able to come out with a win.”
The 28-year-old, hailing from Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, responsible for three of the Brew Crew’s five home runs hit this postseason, launched his third Monday on a fifth inning solo homer, tying up NLCS Game 2 at four.

Before that, during his first at-bat, Contreras converted in similar clutch fashion, smacking a first inning RBI single off LA’s right-handed starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto to even it up at one apiece.
And then, just to stamp his imprints all over the victory at American Family Field—which now has the Brewers two wins away from appearing in the franchise’s second World Series and first since 1982—Contreras recorded a go-ahead single in the sixth to give Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.
All the Brew Crew would end up needing when it was all said and done as Milwaukee’s bullpen could not have shoved at a better clip.
The Brewers bullpen combines for FIVE PERFECT innings to finish off Game 2! 🔥
Dustin May: 1 IP, 0 R, 1 K
JoJo Romero: 1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks

After right-handed starter Logan Henderson surrendered four runs (two unearned) on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts across the first four innings—RHP Dustin May, LHP JoJo Romero, RHP Abner Uribe and LHP Aaron Ashby—held the Dodgers off the bases entirely and combined for seven strikeouts.
A lot of that production and pure dominance on the mound had to do with Contreras behind the plate, working methodically in neutralizing LA’s dangerous lineup inning by inning.
Like he has done so since arriving to Milwaukee via a trade with the Braves in December of 2022, missing just 61 games combined the last four years (2023-2026) while playing in each of the Brewers’ 20 postseason games over that span.

“The first year he was here, he literally wanted to catch every game. He just wanted to be in there,” said manager Pat Murphy of Contreras and the Venezuelan’s desire to win.
“This kid wants it. He doesn’t believe in days off, he doesn’t believe in being injured. He played one year with a broken hand. He was so significant tonight, incredible. Forget even the offensive production, which was incredible but the defense and just calling the game. Working with four or five different pitchers, whatever we threw out there. He does it every night. Whatever people think about him, he’s underrated. He’s that good.”
Looking Ahead to Game 3 of NLCS
With the first two games of this best of seven NLCS wrapped up and Milwaukee holding a 2-0 advantage over the Dodgers, the series now shifts to Los Angeles for Games 3, 4 and potentially 5, at Dodger Stadium.
Will the back-to-back World Series champs respond or could this be the year the Brewers come out of the National League on top?
