CABO ROJO, PUERTO RICO — Although I am some 1,600 miles away from the Boogie Down Bronx, home of the storied New York Yankees, better known as the Bronx Bombers, I continue to encounter Yankee fans here who have not forgotten—and simply cannot get over—the fact that their beloved team has once again been eliminated from the postseason.
The numbers tell part of the story.
During the regular season, the Yankees faced the Tampa Bay Rays 15 times and lost nine of those games. But what proved even more shocking was their three-game sweep at the hands of the Rays in the American League Division Series (ALDS).

The disappointing finish has left many frustrated Yankees fans calling for change.
Some believe manager Aaron Boone should be fired, while others are demanding the departure of general manager Brian Cashman.
But are these the changes the Yankees—finishing 93-68 this year, their 34th consecutive season of a record of .500 or better—really need? Or are there deeper organizational issues that must be addressed?
With so many questions being raised about the direction of this storied franchise, we share the following article, “NY Yankees: Make That Change” by our friend and occasional Latino Sports collaborator, Aristotle “Mugsy” Sakellaridis, better known as Aris, who offers his perspective on the changes he believes are necessary for the Yankees.
