LOS ANGELES, CA — As the 2025 World Series approaches with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays facing off in Game 1 at the Rogers Centre Friday night, two position players that stand out to me as the keys to the Dodgers potentially winning back-to-back championships are Andy Pages, Havana, Cuba, and Kiké Hernández, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
One of them, Hernández, has the highest batting average for the Dodgers this postseason at .306, while Pages has the lowest batting average for LA at .086. But that doesn’t tell the whole story.

In the regular season, Pages batted .272 with 27 home runs and 86 RBI, as Hernández batted .203 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. But Hernández has a history of playing over his head in the postseason, and he has continued to show that clutch hitting over the last three rounds for LA. And while Pages has struggled over the same stretch, he has the potential to get hot again. Dodger fans have seen him put up numbers that, except for home runs, were every bit as impressive as Shohei Ohtani.
Pages has also gotten better in the outfield at tracking down long fly balls this year and possesses one of the strongest, accurate arms in baseball. He brings back memories of “The Great One,” Roberto Clemente, from Carolina, Puerto Rico, and, like No. 21, trying to take an extra base on a ball hit to him is just not a good decision.
Hernández, on the other hand, has played every position except catcher in his career, giving manager Dave Roberts many options.
He also has .864 career OPS in the postseason with 15 home runs and 39 RBI over 266 at-bats. Not to mention, two World Series rings at home (2020: LAD and 2024: LAD).
Everyone will talk about Shohei Ohtani (2025 NLCS MVP), Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman (2024 World Series MVP), Teoscar Hernández, Cotui, Dominican Republic, and Will Smith, and rightfully so.
But I believe these two exciting, under-the-radar players will have a positive impact on this best of seven World Series for Los Angeles.
