BRONX, NY — The New York Yankees honored the late great John Sterling Monday night prior to New York’s 12-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium in a special pregame ceremony.
YES Network’s Michael Kay and WFAN’s Suzyn Waldman—a part of the special tribute to pay homage to Sterling, a longtime teammate and friend who passed away at the age of 87—placed a bonquet of flowers on home plate before those in attendance took a moment of silence.
John touched the hearts of countless individuals around the world with his calls in the radio booth but more so with those lucky enough to cross paths with him throughout his iconic life.
He was one of one.
