NEWARK, NJ — With all the action live on DAZN worldwide, Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) will bid to begin a new chapter on a winning note when he faces the hard-hitting Damian Knyba (17-1, 11 KOs) tomorrow night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The Mexican-American, 36, a former unified heavyweight champion, has struggled for rounds in recent years since his loss to Anthony Joshua but still firmly believes he has what it takes to compete at the top end of a busy division once again—with titles on his mind.
“A lot of people don’t know the struggles that us fighters have, not just inside the ring, but outside of the ring,” Ruiz said leading up to “The Fight” on DAZN. “I had to take a little time off. I had to get that hunger back. I had to be with my family. I think every fighter should take little breaks like that. But maybe not too long.”
He added: “I feel good. It is a blessing now that everything has healed. I’m ready to go. There’s nothing better than just to get back in the atmosphere, where I belong.”
