Bronx Say’s Adios to Sánchez & Urshela.

South Bronx, NY: I have been a Gary Sanchez fan for many years. I was following him when he was in the Yankee minor league organization and was happy that the Yankees were always protecting him from any possible trades. I and others who were following Gary’s trajectory in the minors were happy to finally see that he made it up to the big circus in the Bronx. Upon arriving he proved why the Yankees were wise to keep him, the rookie slugger was terrorizing pitchers since they brought him up from the minor leagues in early August. Gary a two time All Star and had won the 2016 LatinoMVP Rookie of the year award. That was then and now is now. Gary hit just .204 in 2021 with 23 home runs and 54 RBI.

The Yankees will send Sanchez and third baseman Gio Urshela (.267 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI over 116 games in 2021) to Minnesota and they will acquire, Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa for a deal that will transform the left side of their infield. It also appears the Yankees are again looking for power something which the Yankees have always been known for as their nick name is “The Bronx Bombers.”

Donaldson, the veteran slugger, and former MVP will be joined by shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa, a strong defensive player who ironically the Twins picked up this weekend from the Texas Rangers.

Two Latino players, Dominican, Gary Sanchez and Columbian Gio Urshela leaving the comforts of the largest Latino borough in New York, The Bronx for their new home in Minnesota, we wish them the very best.
