During my life as Emperor of Japan, from 1926 until my death in 1989, I had the opportunity to enjoy the development of baseball in our country. It is my favorite sport; I find it the most intelligent, entertaining, educational, the most difficult to play, and the most exciting of all sports.

You were Rookie of the Year in Japan in 2019, a two-time MVP, and you also won the Triple Crown in 2022. You’ve appeared in four All-Star Games, were a key part of the Japan Series-winning team in 2021, a two-time home run leader, and have won numerous other trophies.
Since the tragedy of Pearl Harbor in December 1941, we Japanese were, finally, known in the United States. And then more and more, because we exported small battery-operated gadgets, like radios, small flashlights, and toy cars.
