BRONX, NY — Merry Clinchmas from the Bronx.
The New York Yankees are officially the 2024 American League Eastern Division Champs, clinching the AL East with their 10-1 regular season series finale victory over the Baltimore Orioles, the 2023 AL East winners, on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.

And with their 2024 AL East division crown finally hoisted, the Yankees’ 21st in their franchise history, along with home field advantage secured for the American League Division Series, out came the ski goggles, champagne showers, and bottles popping in the home clubhouse.
A celebration that was much deserving as the Yankees’ goal to rise up to the top of the AL East division was set out when Spring Training opened up in Tampa, Florida, at George M. Steinbrenner Field during the beginning of February.
“Just really proud of this group,” said Aaron Boone in an on-the-field interview after clinching his third AL East division title as Yankees’ manager on Thursday evening.
“We’ve faced a ton so far this year, they’ve answered it every turn. We set out to win a division when we started this thing, so it’s a check in another box but obviously, we have more to go.”

With more to go, three games to be exact before the postseason, New York’s next step in their chase to a 28th World Series championship is locking up the number one seed in the American League, which would mark their first time as the top AL seed since 2012.
They could do so this weekend with the Pittsburgh Pirates coming to town to cap off the regular season, as the Yankees’ magic number to clinch the best record in the AL is down to two. But, for now, the next 12 hours, the Bronx Bombers will be celebrating their AL East Division title in deserving fashion — with their ski goggles on, champagne showers, and bottles popping.

Yanks React To Clinching AL East
“Enjoying it to the every last bit of it as we should. We know there is much more to get done, but this is a moment in time where you enjoy the accomplishments so far and go from there.” -Giancarlo Stanton, who went 2-4 with a solo blast and four RBI in the division clinching win.
“You gotta celebrate the little things, you gotta celebrate things like this. It takes a lot of hard work to come out here to win a division for the teams that are in our group, so we’re gonna celebrate tonight and then looking forward to October.” -Aaron Judge, MLB’s 2024 HR season leader with 58, as his most recent blast came in Thursday night’s victory

“It’s great. It’s really special for me, and for the whole team. It was one of the goals we tried to get at the beginning of the season and to get it done the right way, I think it’s amazing.” -Juan Soto on finishing on top of the AL East.
“It never gets old. You put in a lot of hard work to get to these positions and you try to enjoy them but you have to respect this game, and whatever you did yesterday, doesn’t mean anything for the next day. So we’re gonna have to come out and show up. But it was a good way to wrap up the regular season. It was on our goal list and it feels good to accomplish that.” -Gerrit Cole, who pitched 6.2 shutout innings on Thursday with five strikeouts.
