Bronx, NY – I know that many NY Mets fans and especially many Puerto Rican fans, both on the island and in the mainland were hoping that the Mets would sign Javier Báez to a long term contract to remain with the Mets. Many fans enjoyed watching Javy at second alongside, Francisco Lindor at short. Two island born Puerto Ricans who knew each other since High School playing side by side in New York was a dream come true. Unfortunately, the dream was short lived as the Mets lost that opportunity to the Detroit Tigers who gave Javier Báez a six year $140 million dollar long term contract.
This is a great birthday present for Báez who will be celebrating his 29th birthday today. Feliz Cumpleaño Javy!
