NEW YORK, NY — With the calendar flipping over to March, College Basketball delivered the goods over the weekend, as on back-to-back nights, we saw a regular season conference championship title get raised.

It all began Friday evening with Yaxel Lendeborg and the No. 3 ranked Michigan Wolverines, defeating No. 10 Illinois, 84-70, on the road to officially clinch the outright Big Ten (B10) Conference regular season title.

Lendeborg, born in Puerto Rico with Dominican roots, who is one of the top College Basketball players in the country, had an all-around stat line, dropping 16 points with seven boards, four assists, two blocks and two steals.

Then, nearly 24 hours later on Saturday night, the No. 7 ranked Florida Gators, the reigning NCAA champion, featuring Dominican-American Boogie Fland and Puerto Rican Isaiah Brown, got to enjoy the same experience as Michigan—claiming a piece of the Southeastern (SEC) Conference regular season championship after blowing out No. 20 Arkansas, 111-77.

In this one, Fland, of the Bronx, NY, finishing with 14 points and four assists, went up against his former team, as the sophomore guard spent his freshman year with head coach John Calipari and the Razorbacks.

His teammate Brown, a sophomore guard out of Orlando, Florida, of Puerto Rican heritage—was just as impactful, contributing to the Gator win with 11 points and four rebounds—including one impressive bucket where he went end to end and completed the possession on a ferocious dunk

All in all, if the last 48 hours were anything close to what’s in store this month as March Madness (the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament) is right around the corner, the world of College Hoops is in for a thrilling and unforgettable stretch of basketball.
