Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – El beisbol ha recibido puñaladas terribles y a traición, que le han mutilado su estrategia, su ambiente, su folklore, su sabor a pueblo. Y lo peor, Manfred and cómpany, preparan más cobardes agresiones.

Desde 1845, cuando se escribieron las primeras Reglas, se han hecho correcciones y agregados, siempre que el juego lo ha pedido. Pero ahora no se hacen modificaciones, no se crean nuevas Reglas por eso, sino porque ESPN y FOX se lo exigen a Cabeza de Chorlito Manfred por razones mezquinas y no del deporte ni del espectáculo.

Y, como ESPN paga mil millones de dólares por temporada, y FOX mil 400 millones, “por la plata baila el perro”.

He recibido con agrado los cambios convenientes, positivos. Como la adición de los playoffs desde 1969, porque han dado una magnífica amplitud a la competencia, chance a más equipos. Pero, imposible celebrar el crimen de abril de 1973, cuando en Fenway Park, Ron Bloomberg (Yankees) fue el primer bateador designado, al recibir, de Luis Tiant (M. Rojas), base por bolas con bases llenas. Los bateadores designados son medios peloteros e igual que terceros elementos en la alcoba matrimonial.

Le han quitado al espectáculo el sabor de las protestas por mánagers como Connie Mack, Lou Piniella, Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, mientras un coro de 40 mil y más personas le nombran la madre al umpire posiblemente no equivocado?.

Porque desde 2014 pueden usar auxilio de los videos. Cada revisión se lleva hasta 10 minutos, una pérdida de tiempo, que ha elevado la duración de los juegos y ha demostrado que, de cada 10 sentencias protestadas, ocho son correctas.
