MILWAUKEE — George Washington University standout center Rafael Castro has signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks as an undrafted free agent.

GW’s Dominican-American big man of the last two seasons will have the opportunity to become the 15th player in program history to play in the NBA, joining the likes of Yuta Watanabe, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Yinka Dare and Mike Brown, among others. Jamison Battle (2019-21) of the Toronto Raptors is the only former GW player currently active in the league.

Castro’s accolades in two years after transferring from Providence include a pair of Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, two A-10 All-Defensive selections and an NABC First Team All-District designation this past season. In 63 games for the Buff & Blue, he averaged 14.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.5 bpg and 1.5 spg while becoming the program’s career leader in field goal percentage at 64.4%.

The Dover, N.J., native is expected to participate in the NBA Summer League, which will be held from July 9-19 in Las Vegas.
