BRONX, NY — At Latino Sports, we take pride in highlighting stories that often go unnoticed by mainstream sports media—stories that reflect passion, perseverance, and cultural pride.
Today, we bring you the inspiring journey of a young Puerto Rican woman, Yedlimar De Jesús, who has defied expectations and broken barriers.

Yedlimar De Jesús committed to Monroe University back in February of 2025 with the goal of becoming of the first Puerto Rican female to ever participate in Men’s Baseball at the collegiate level – Image Credit: Albergue Olímpico Baseball Academy
From her early love of baseball to earning a spot as the only female player on the Men’s College baseball team at Monroe University located in New Rochelle, New York, “Yedi” continues to challenge norms and prove that the game has no gender boundaries.
Her story is one of dedication, determination, and love for baseball—not softball—and we’re proud to share it with our readers.
