I No Longer Have Time to Do So Many Things – Ya No Tengo Tiempo de Hacer Tantas Cosas

My Hereafter (VIP-WIRE) – Cheers, friends!…

How’s it going, fans? Sports are bringing us together once again…

I have finally arrived here—at the place you call the “Great Beyond,” but which I now call my “Here and Now.”

The welcome was simple, yet deeply moving. Here—in this Hereafter of mine—everyone is overjoyed to keep doing what makes them happy. But in this Hereafter, for reasons I’ll discover little by little, everything is simpler, more peaceful, and—above all—more practical.

I spotted Roberto Clemente taking batting practice, while Eladio Secades was sharing notes and commentary with Carlitos González, Pancho Pepe, and Delio Amado León. I also got to greet and give a big hug to Buck Canel; he told me Frank Sinatra is performing in New York soon—on the very same day the Yankees host the Dodgers (the Brooklyn Dodgers, mind you), complete with Jackie Robinson and that gleaming number 42 on his back.

You see, here in my Hereafter —the place you call the Beyond—any scenario that is beautiful, sincere, and meaningful is possible.

I’ll leave you now, as I’m off to enjoy and report on all these wonderful things… I can’t tell you everything because, well… you’ll find out for yourselves. However, before leaving the place you call “Here and Now”—on my journey to *this* “Here and Now”—I wrote this final column… I hope you enjoy it.

I No Longer Have Time to Do So Many Things

Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – Every night that falls marks one less day, so I no longer have time to:

**Die young.

**Forbid children from getting sick.

**See a world without a single illiterate person, without anyone lacking a university degree or a trade, without anyone suffering the pangs of hunger. **To interview Jesus Christ, Simón Bolívar, José Martí, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, Andrés Bello, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Juan Belmonte, and José Gómez Ortega (Joselito or Gallito).

**To study music and compose a semi-classical song for Jesus Christ the man—because I believe that, as a man, this is the best way to worship, admire, and respect him.

**To run—over the course of eight dawns, wearing a white shirt and a red handkerchief at the waist—alongside the 48 bulls from the eight *encierros* (running of the bulls) at the San Fermín Festival.

**To marry a 20-year-old Sophia Loren without Barbarita finding out.

**To ride a black horse in a Sunday afternoon charreada (Mexican rodeo) in Jalisco.

**To sing México Lindo y Querido, accompanied by Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, in the Guadalajara bullring.

**To be able to sing like Enrico Caruso, Plácido Domingo, Miguel Aceves Mejía, Armando Manzanero, Alfredo Sadel, or Carlos Gardel.

**To land on Mars and see Earth from there.

**To fly around the world—starting and ending in New York—with four-day, four-night stopovers in every city boasting notable restaurants.

**To own a restaurant called Las Madres Solteras (Single Mothers), staffed exclusively by single mothers, featuring an on-site daycare and kindergarten—with meals included—all free of charge for their children.

**To see all of Latin America united as a single nation, governed by honest and capable administrators.

**To witness the development of vaccines against cancer and AIDS.

**To live in a society where Black, White, red-haired, and Asian people, as well as homosexuals and heterosexuals, are all treated as equals—with everyone having the same opportunity to graduate and pursue postgraduate studies at the best universities.

**To die young.

**A world without tyrants, terrorism, or war.

**To know what lies at the bottom of the oceans.

**To see everyone laughing—no one serious, no one crying.

**To travel across the five continents without needing visas.

**To enjoy a world with a single currency.

**To find myself surrounded by grandsons and granddaughters—and some great-grandchildren—who, instead of playing with their cell phones, ask me why my hair is white.

**To eat paella and drink a bottle of red wine during autumn in Valencia, Spain.

**To dress up as Charlie Chaplin and Cantinflas.

**To be able to converse with each of the people who signed *Letters from the Beyond*.

**To skydive from the very top of three landmarks: the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the Eiffel Tower.

**To glide down Angel Falls without getting injured.

Thanks to life, for giving me so much, including a reader like you.

**Entrevistar a Jesucristo, a Simón Bolívar, José Martí, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, Andrés Bello, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Juan Belmonte y José Gómez Ortega (Joselito o Gallito).
