LOS ANGELES, CA — Sugar is a three-time LatinoMVP Reliever of the Year Award winner.
Edwin Díaz, 33, of Naguabo, Puerto Rico, received the 2025 National League LatinoMVP Reliever of the Year Award prior to Wednesday night’s Padres-Dodgers game in Los Angeles by president and founder of Latino Sports Julio Pabón.
The LatinoMVP Awards are the oldest and most prestigious awards earned by Latino players in Major League Baseball dating back to 1990.

Díaz captured the American League LatinoMVP Reliever of the Year Award for the first time in 2018 with the Seattle Mariners. That season, his third in MLB, he posted a record of 57 saves over 73 games with an ERA of 1.96.
He repeated the career milestone in 2022 while pitching in the National League for the New York Mets, recording 32 saves over 61 games with a 1.31 ERA.
His third award, his second career NL LatinoMVP Reliever of the Year Award and third to date in MLB, came in 2025, also with the Mets, when Díaz posted 28 saves over 62 innings and a 1.63 ERA.
Edwin’s 2025 NL LatinoMVP Reliever of the Year Award was crafted by Latino Sports’ Maz Adams, who completes a special artistic rendition of each season’s LatinoMVP Award winners for NL/AL Starting Pitcher, Reliever and Rookie of the Year.
