BRONX, NY — Will Warren has taken a step forward with the Yankees this season, becoming a dependable part of their starting rotation.

The 26-year-old right-hander, relying heavily on his sweeper, sinker and four-seam fastball, also throwing a curveball and changeup, has strung together a 2.45 ERA in four starts this year while striking out 20 batters in 18.1 innings.

He worked hard over the winter, making some adjustments coming into the 2026 campaign and discussed some of it with Latino Sports on Friday prior to the Royals and Yankees series opener in the Bronx.

“I think it was just, you know, after 33 starts (last year)—health was a good thing and I just wanna stay healthy and stay on the field so that I can take the mound every five days,” Warren said on the field during Yankees batting practice. “We also made an adjustment to the right side of the rubber, which has really helped me out with my lines and just the deception to the hitters.”

Warren made his MLB debut with the Yankees in 2024, appearing in just six games, but last season (2025) was his rookie year with 33 outings. He brings a winning pedigree from his time with the Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, the Somerset Patriots, who won the Eastern League Championship in 2022. On that team was Warren as well as Anthony Volpe, Ben Rice, Austin Wells, and Jasson Domínguez.

“It’s really special and really cool,” he said of him, Rice, Wells and Domínguez moving up the Yankees pipeline together. “Obviously, we’ve been together for a long time, so we know how each other tick, and how we’re gonna do it in the Show.”

This past offseason, the Yankees also hired Dan Fiorito as their first base coach who was Warren’s manager with the Patriots, helping lead Somerset to the 2022 Eastern League title.

A small-town kid from Flowood, Mississippi, Warren, selected by the Yankees in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Southeastern Louisiana University and now pitching in New York, has continued to pick up learning lessons from Fiorito, manager Aaron Boone, among many others within the organization.

When asked about his favorite part of being a Yankee and Major Leaguer, he said, “Coming out and playing in front of these fans and getting to play with the big dogs like (Aaron) Judge and Big G (Giancarlo Stanton) and so many guys that have done it for so long at a high level and just learning from them.”

Warren also expanded on his routine in between starts and how he prepares for an outing the day prior.

“Just making sure everything’s fine tuned and play catch, trying to keep it on the lighter side so that I’m ready to go tomorrow,” he said. “And overall, just watching Cam (Schlittler) today and trying to figure out if I can catch any tips and stuff like that.”

Cam Schlittler set a good example for Warren with six strikeouts in six innings and no earned runs allowed on Friday night in the Yankees’ 4-2 win over Kansas City.

Warren will look to keep the ball rolling, build a winning streak, and secure a series victory for the Yankees this afternoon against the Royals in the Bronx.
