En la década de los 70s disfruté sus extraordinarias atrapadas en el jardín izquierdo y la tercera base; sus bravas barridas en home y la temporada de 1978, en la que puso a temblar el récord de Joe DiMaggio de más juegos consecutivos pegando de hit. Pete Rose se encuentra ya en el nicho de los inmortales del beisbol, aún con la necia oposición de los culopicosos comisionados de las Grandes Ligas”.
