WASHINGTON, D.C. — With his 300th career home run coming Sunday afternoon in the Mets’ 6-4 loss to the Nationals, Francisco Lindor became the seventh Puerto Rican-born player in MLB history to record 300 HRs in his career, joining Carlos Delgado (473), Carlos Beltrán (435), Juan González (434), Orlando Cepeda (379), Iván Rodríguez (311), & Rubén Sierra (306).
The 32-year-old superstar shortstop of Caguas, Puerto Rico, a five-time All-Star and two-time LatinoMVP Award winner, also is now the only shortstop ever to reach the career marks of 300 or more home runs and 200 or more stolen bases (219).

“I think it’s a good number,” Lindor said as Cal Ripken Jr. (345) and Alex Rodríguez (344) are the only shortstops in MLB history ahead of him in home runs. “I’m blessed to be in the position that I’m in today. I thank the coaches; I thank the trainers. To hit 300, you got to be healthy for a long time. The trainers here (New York), Cleveland, my people, have helped me a lot to stay on the field.”
“It seems like it’s a day for me, but at the end of the day, it’s for all these people that have pushed me to be better day in and day out and made me better.”
Of Lindor reaching the 300 HR career mark, Mets manager Andy Green said: “Glad he did it today; glad he got to celebrate with his teammates in there. It’s a good highlight for Mets fans to end this year.”
