NEW YORK, NY — From the Dominican Republic to the Big Apple of New York City, the respect between José Reyes and Karl-Anthony Towns goes a long way.
Following the New York Knicks’ 123-111 win over the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, Towns and his father, Karl Towns, Sr., met up briefly outside of the home team’s locker room with Reyes, a Mets icon and former four-time MLB All-Star, who was sitting courtside throughout game-action.
The five-time NBA All-Star, a proud Dominican-American from Edison, New Jersey, Towns, known to be a diehard Yankees fan dating back to his childhood days, gifted Reyes, of Santiago, Dominican Republic, with a signed Knicks jersey of his and snapped a photo together prior to going their separate ways.
Throughout the quick interaction, some of the back and forth can be heard:
Karl-Anthony Towns: “You know what’s crazy, I have your hat.”
José Reyes: “You sure? (laughing)”
Karl-Anthony Towns: “Only Mets one I got.”
On the floor, the Knicks snapped a four-game losing streak to move to 24-13 overall on the 2025-2026 season, second in the Eastern Conference standings, and as it goes for KAT (21.4 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 3.0 APG in 34 games), the seven foot big man has continued to surge up NBA’s All-Star Fan Voting—coming in at seventh in the Eastern Conference with 898,038 votes—behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, Donovan Mitchell, and Jaylen Brown.
