Coral Gables, Florida (VIP-WIRE) – Question of the Week: Who are the most notable candidates for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2027 and 2028?

The Answer: Among the 2027 candidates are Buster Posey, Kyle Seager, Ryan Zimmerman, Jay Bruce, Brett Gardner, and Asdrúbal Cabrera. For 2028, Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina are in the running.

Valenzuela and the Committee – Fernando Valenzuela was announced by the Hall of Fame as a candidate for 2027, via the Contemporary Era Committee. Along with him are Pete Rose, Roger Clemens, and Barry Bonds.

A Great Privilege – “Being a Hall of Fame voter is one of the greatest privileges a baseball writer can have. It can also be one of the most difficult tasks.” John Perroto, from Pittsburgh, has been a baseball writer since 1988 and has voted for the Hall of Fame since 1998.

There are players who participated in more All-Star Games than the number of seasons they played, because they played two per year. Hank Aaron was nominated 25 times and played in 23 seasons; Willie Mays, 24 times in 23 seasons; Mickey Mantle, 20 times in 19 seasons; and Joe DiMaggio, whose career was interrupted by World War II, in which he served as a soldier, played in 13 seasons.

Bob Abreu was only selected to two All-Star Games in the 18 seasons he played.

By the way, the assholes, who are few but very vocal, claim that Venezuelans don’t get into the Hall of Fame because I don’t vote for them. Well, Bob Abreu received 131 votes this year, and he needed 319 to be elected. As you can see, another 187 journalists also don’t consider him worthy of Cooperstown.
