NEW YORK, NY — From coast to coast Friday night, Latinos were the heroes for their respective team, sending fans home in epic walk-off fashion.
A Southside Vargas Delight
In the bottom of the tenth inning as the Tigers and White Sox were tied up at three, Miguel Vargas (Havana, Cuba) blasted a Drew Anderson 0-1 90-MPH changeup to win it, marking his 13th home run of 2026—three HRs shy of tying the 26-year-old’s HR career-high in a season (2025 with 16).
Clutch Like MJ
Puerto Rican MJ Melendez (Daytona Beach, Florida), stepping up to the plate in the bottom frame of the tenth with the Marlins and Mets even at seven and a runner on with two down, came through in the clutch, sending a 0-2 98-MPH fastball from Pete Fairbanks to the second deck of right field for a two-run walk-off homer—the 27-year-old’s third HR of the season.
So Far, So Tovar
Fighting all the way back from a 6-3 deficit vs. the Giants in the ninth inning, Rockies’ Ezequiel Tovar (Maracay, Venezuela) hammered the first pitch he saw—a Caleb Killian 0-1 90-MPH knuckle curveball with a runner on and two outs—406-feet to left field to cap off a five-run rally.
Tovar’s walk-off HR, the 24-year-old’s fourth HR in 2026, came two at-bats after Colorado’s catcher Hunter Goodman tied the game up on a three-run homer.
The Randy Man Can
Cuban-born Mexican star Randy Arozarena (Havana, Cuba), consistently showing up in big moments throughout his career, did just that in the bottom of the tenth inning with the Diamondbacks and Mariners battling out a 6-6 ballgame.
On a 2-2 count with runners on first and second, the 31-year-old smacked a Juan Morillo slider 85-MPH up the middle to drive in the game-winning run.
