BROOKLYN, NY – Leading up to Premier Boxing Champions’ spotlight of fights at the Barclays Center, included with Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Lamont Roach in the main event, later on tonight, there are many key moments to discuss.

Fans and journalists all over New York City went out of their way — fighting traffic and the hassle of trains — to be a part of this memorable boxing event, as well as the workouts and press conference prior.

What Went Down In Wednesday’s Workout

At 2:19 PM ET: Sandor Martín, Spain’s warrior, made his way to the ring to showcase his skills and efforts in front of the attending press and media. The 31-year-old began with a brief interview with Miguel Flores, the Ring Announcer for PBC, and then after, he threw light jabs, hooks and uppercuts in the ring.

Martín’s record consists of 42 wins, three losses, with 15 successes by knockout. The Spain native will go toe-to-toe against the undefeated Dominican Alberto Puello (23-0, 10 KOs). Although his last fight was in December of 2023, he believes he will conquer his biggest win yet as he is excited to be fighting at Barclays Center for the first time — hoping to show the fans everything he has.

“For me, it’s not important of the opponent. Puello’s a good fighter but my goal is to become a World Champion, that’s all for me,” Martín said.

At 3:05 PM ET: Puello zoomed his way inside the ring to prove to all that he’s the right opponent for Martín. The same way Martín started his workout was the same way Puello began his, an interview with Flores. The talented Dominican rival gave us the best performance without the need of a fighter in front of him or next to him. Puello’s resume is perfect, literally and I, like many, can only imagine the discipline he’s going to show off. Unlike Martín, Puello’s last fight was last year in June. He has been an active brawler throughout his career.

“There are levels in this thing. Boxing is always a thing and he’s gonna realize that.”  Puello said.

At 3:23 PM ET: Yoenis Tellez sped his way into the ring with smiles and a high-level of confidence. He kept it short and sweet with Flores in their interview but his hands did the opposite when completing shadow work. Tellez, hailing from Cuba, (9-0, 2 KO’s), will be going up against Julian Williams, whose record is (28-4, 16 KO’s).

Tellez, unbothered by the intimidating knockout statistics from his opponent, will do anything he can to make a legacy out of his name, being the underdog and an upcoming fighter.

At 3:31 PM ET: José Valenzuela (14-2, 9 KO’s) entered the ring through the crowd and gave us outstanding action-packed shots. Coming off a huge win against Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz in August of last year, Valenzuela will look to carry his winning momentum into Saturday, as he faces Gary Antuanne Russell (17-1, all 17 wins have come as a result of TKO).

Will Mexico’s inspiration Valenzuela, stick with his two losses and advance to 15 successive wins? We shall just have to see.

“We’re just gonna give the fans a hell of a fight,” Valenzuela said.
