This past Friday night following the San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays series opener at Tropicana Field, where San Diego won 13-5, Rays’ top-prospect Junior Caminero, was given the opportunity to swap jerseys with one of his childhood heroes in Padres’ superstar third baseman Manny Machado.
For Caminero, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the 21-year-old third baseman grew up idolizing Machado’s transcendent play on-and-off the diamond.
A dream come true for Junior Caminero ❤️

Now that he has arrived to the big leagues, Caminero looks to follow the path that Machado, a former LatinoMVP award recipient, and several other Dominican MLB athletes have paved for those making their way to the Show.
