But we ask ourselves, where are the Sandy Koufax, the Don Drysdale, the Mickey Mantle, the Whitey Ford… where is Monte Irvin, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe and hundreds more?
It happens that those who should occupy the place left by those in the Major Leagues, are today professionals of other sports.
Something has failed in the Major Leagues, admired businessmen, for the youth of the United States to have lost so much love for baseball.
And as Cam Newton predicted, basketball is on its way to becoming the number one sporting event in the Union, just as soccer will be number two.
Now, if you, the owners of this thing and those who bathe in five thousand five hundred million dollars and more every year, do not take care of cutting what is useless, no one else can do it.
We can imagine how horrible baseball must look in ruins. But that is where we are going, due to your neglect and the inability of those who have been placed in the areas where work should have been done for the well-being of the sport, the show, the business and the millions of dollars.

Señores dueños del negocio:
De que algo va muy mal en las Grandes Ligas, el multimillonario negocio de ustedes, no hay la menor duda.
No solo lo afirmamos nosotros, Baltasar, Melchor y Gaspar, desde este Más Acá que Uds. llaman Más Allá, sino mucha gente, y mucha gente que conoce el mundo del espectáculo deportivo, como ese caballero, Cam Newton, quien fuera estelar quarterback en el fútbol estadounidense profesional.
¡Y es increíble!, pero está trastabillando nuestro maravilloso juego, porque por primera vez en 155 años, la mayoría de los jóvenes nativos de Estados Unidos no tienen interés en jugarlo. Prefieren el básquetbol, el fútbol soccer, el fútbol americano, el hockey sobre hielo y hasta el voleibol.
¡Claro!…. Algo va mal. Muy mal.
Y no es nada secreto. Eso está a la vista de todos. Si a japoneses como Shohei Ohtani, a coreanos como Hyeseong Kim y a dominicanos como Juan Soto, se les contrata por tales sumas multimillonarias, mientras ningún estadounidense figura entre las firmas grandes, es porque algo está mal… ¡MUY MAL!
Pero, nosotros, que llegamos hoy a la tierra en nuestra visita anual de Navidad, estamos muy felices por los sueldos de esos, ahora muy bien pagados en el beisbol.
Pero nos preguntamos, ¿dónde están los Sandy Koufax, los Don Drysdale, los Mickey Mantle, los Whitey Ford… dónde Monte Irvin, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe y centenares más?
Ocurre que quienes deberían ocupar el sitio dejado por esos en Grandes Ligas, son hoy día profesionales de otros deportes.
Algo ha fallado en Grandes Ligas, admirados empresarios, para que la juventud de Estados Unidos le haya perdido tanto amor al beisbol.
Y como predijo Cam Newton, el básquetbol vuela para ser el espectáculo número uno del deporte en la Unión, igual que el fútbol soccer será número dos.
Ahora, si Uds. dueños de la cosa y quienes se bañan con cinco mil 500 millones de dólares y más todos los años, no se ocupan de cortar lo que no sirve, nadie más lo puede hacer.
Nos imaginamos lo horrible que debe verse el beisbol en ruinas. Pero hacia allá vamos, por abandono de ustedes e incapacidad de quienes han colocado en las áreas donde debió trabajarse para bienestar del deporte, el espectáculo, el negocio y los millones de dólares.
