NEW YORK, NY — In the Dominican Republic, baseball is not just a sport. It’s much more than that.
It’s everything.
For Julio Rodríguez, nicknamed “The J-Rod Show,” the 25-year-old superstar recently combined the best of both worlds—his love for baseball and giving back to his homeland—transforming Loma de Cabrera Municipal Stadium located in his hometown of Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic into a state of the art ballpark.

The two-time LatinoMVP Award recipient, winning the American League LatinoMVP Rookie of the Year in 2022 and AL LatinoMVP in 2023, made a significant monetary donation from his No Limits Foundation into the project which included massive renovations with new features such as artificial turf, a professional LED system, batting cages, a soccer field, a cafeteria, public restrooms and benches for spectators—information courtesy of Héctor Gómez of Ministerio Deportes and Z101 Digital.
Photo and video posts surfaced on social media this past Monday of Rodríguez and several of his MLB peers in attendance at the ballpark for the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the stadium with many of the youth in the community also present.
Alongside in support of J-Rod throughout the special inauguration were Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Nelson Cruz, Luis Castillo, Oneil Cruz, Christopher Morel, Ronel Blanco, Noelvi Marte, and Victor Robles—many of whom took some swings on the brand new field during a softball exhibition game causing the crowd to erupt.

This isn’t the first time Rodríguez has played a part in lifting his local community.
Back in August of 2025, J-Rod helped an elderly woman and her 12-13 year old grandson from his hometown completely rebuild their home due to recent flooding in the area.
“I feel like that’s kind of become a theme for me,” Rodríguez said at the time. “Just to be able to do events like that, like I do in my hometown. And just like whenever I see something that I can help, I’m definitely going to try my best to lend a hand.”
