BRONX, NY — The Texas Rangers snapped the Yankees’ five-game winning streak Wednesday night, defeating New York 6-1 behind another dominant outing from Nathan Eovaldi at Yankee Stadium.
Eovaldi continued his recent mastery over the Yankees, allowing just one run across eight innings while striking out eight. Dating back to last season, the 36-year-old veteran right-hander and former Yankee (2015-2016) now owns four consecutive starts against New York of at least six innings while allowing one run or fewer.
“I played here in Yankee Stadium enough to know how big the crowd plays into effect,” Eovaldi said afterward. “Being able to pitch on the road is just trying to take the crowd out of the game.”

Texas wasted little time getting on the board against Yankees starter Will Warren with Corey Seager opening the scoring on a solo home run in the first inning, his first of two hits on the night.
Warren settled in afterward, striking out five batters through the first two innings, but the Rangers broke the game open in the third. Former Yankee prospect Ezequiel Durán (San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic) lined an RBI double off the wall right before Evan Carter launched a two-run homer to center field, extending Texas’ lead to 4-0.
The Rangers added two more runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Durán and an RBI single from Seager, chasing Warren from the game after four innings.
Warren entered Wednesday having not allowed more than two earned runs in any start this season, but he struggled with command throughout the night surrendering six earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven.

“I think my stuff is good,” Warren said, who had a 2.39 ERA leading up to Wednesday. “I think when I attack the zone and execute what we’re supposed to do, then we’re gonna have success.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone defended his young starter postgame despite the rough outing, stating, “I thought he was throwing the ball well. But you know he falls behind Seager, and Seager does a good job on a 3-0.”
The Yankees managed only three hits all night against Eovaldi and Texas’ left-handed reliever Jacob Latz. Aaron Judge provided the lone offensive highlight of the night for New York with a sixth-inning solo homer, his MLB-leading 15th of the season.
Judge’s home run also placed him alongside Babe Ruth as the only Yankees through 37 team games to record at least 15 home runs and five stolen bases in a season.
Despite the loss to drop to 25-12, Yankees reliever Yerry De Los Santos delivered an important bullpen-saving performance. The 28-year-old right-hander from Samana, Dominican Republic tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts after Warren’s early exit, helping preserve the remainder of New York’s bullpen for the series finale.
The Yankees also dealt with additional injury concerns during the game when shortstop José Caballero (Las Tablas, Panama) was struck near the left elbow by a pitch from Eovaldi in the third inning. Caballero remained in the game, and X-rays later came back clean.

Before first pitch, Boone provided several updates on the Yankees rotation, saying Gerrit Cole still needs “at least a couple more” rehab starts while two-time LatinoMVP Pitcher of the Year Carlos Rodón is expected to make his season debut Sunday in Milwaukee.
The loss dropped New York after one of its hottest stretches of the season, during which the Yankees had gone 15-2 over their previous 17 games entering Wednesday night. For the Rangers, Texas improved to 17-19 on the year with this win marking their second in the month of May.
