LOS ANGELES, CA — The USC Trojans needed a statement win on Saturday, and they delivered with a dominant 31-13 victory over No. 15 Michigan at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

USC (5-1 overall, 3-1 in BIG10) rushed for 224 yards against a nationally ranked Michigan Wolverine run defense, including 158 yards from walk-on redshirt freshman King Miller after top backs Eli Sanders and Waymond Jordan exited in the first half with injuries.

The USC defense also stepped up, recording five tackles for loss while holding Michigan to just 109 rushing yards, zero rushing touchdowns, and forcing two turnovers.

“Awesome win and tough response by our football team,” said USC head coach Lincoln Riley after the win. “I’m proud of them and the way the guys handled the bye week. We were really looking forward to this game. I thought we attacked it and dominated on all sides. It was just a really awesome, gritty, tough performance.”

“There was a mindset that they weren’t leaving the field without a win. You could feel it from the group. This was one of the best weeks of preparation we’ve had since I’ve been here. And what a great atmosphere — two iconic programs, the Coliseum lit up, and the Trojans walking off with the victory. This was an awesome win, and I’m really proud of the group.”
