2025 Threshers Home Opener: Disaster to Jubilation

CLEARWATER, FL — On what turned out to be a fabulous Tuesday night in Clearwater started with the Threshers and Dayton Dragons stepping on the diamond and foul lines for the national anthem. 

For us at Latino Sports, we shall begin by introducing the Latino ballplayers on the opening day Threshers roster, whose progress will be followed throughout the season along with the other players and events.

2025 Opening Day Latino Players on Threshers:

LHP Raymon Rosario (Dominican Republic)

RHP Enrique Segura (Dominican Republic)

RHP Saul Teran (Venezuela, Returning from 2024)

INF Nolan Beltran (Colombia)

INF Aroon Escobar (Venezuela)

INF Diego Gonzalez (Venezuela)

Oh, and yes, there was a ballgame… 

Through seven innings, the Threshers were held to just one hit and no runs, trailing 7-0. In the home frame of the eighth, the Threshers scored three runs featuring an RBI double by Joel Drago to close the margin to 7-3.

Following a three-strikeout performance by Threshers closer, Saul Teran, in the top of the ninth, Daytona brought in their closer, Nelfri Payano (Dominican Republic), who walked two and allowed three hits, including a grand slam home run of the bat of Aroon Escobar, to win the game 8-7.
